What Content Should I Include On My Homepage? | Hey Hello Studio

Effective Homepage Content for Service Providers

Think of your homepage like your digital front door — it’s the first thing people see, and it’s where you greet visitors and invite them inside to explore more.

Nailing that first impression is crucial, because it takes only 3-5 seconds for someone to decide if your site is relevant to them or not.

In this article, we’ll guide you through how to make sure your homepage content effectively welcomes, informs, and converts. (And when you’re done reading this summary, take a look at our Website Copywriting Guide for Service Providers for more help writing your copy!)

1. Hero Section

The hero section is your first chance to grab your visitor’s attention. It should clearly state what you do and for whom, as quickly and clearly as possible.

Include a compelling headline, a supportive subhead to add more context, a call to action (CTA) guiding visitors to the next step, and strategically place your main SEO keyword to improve search visibility.

This section sets the tone for the entire site, so make it count!

2. Bold Statement

Right after your hero section, we recommend introducing a bold statement. This should be a powerful sentence or two that directly addresses your target audience’s core needs or goals.

The aim here is to establish an emotional connection, making visitors feel seen and understood right away. It reassures them they’re exactly where they need to be.

3. Offerings Overview

Visitors come to your site with a simple question: “What can you do for me?” Your offerings section must answer that question, in a clear & concise way. This is potentially the most important of all your homepage content.

Break down your services into 2-3 categories to keep information digestible. Keep in mind that visitors may not be familiar with industry jargon, so write your copy in a way that’s easy to understand.

This is also an important spot to naturally integrate SEO keywords if possible to help with search engine ranking.

After you’ve sparked their interest, encourage them to dive deeper by including a button that links to your Offerings or Services page.

4. Testimonials

The power of social proof can never be underestimated. A well-placed testimonial can tip the scales in your favor and convince potential clients that you’re the right choice.

The goal of this section is to add credibility and relatability to your service through the voices of satisfied customers, aiming to make visitors think, “I want to be able to say that!”

5. About Us Teaser

People connect with people, so it’s ideal to show the face(s) behind the brand in an about us section on the homepage.

This teaser should convey what makes your brand unique or your mission statement, helping to build trust and establish your brand voice.

If you have an About page on your website, link to it at the bottom of this section with a call to action to “Learn More.”

6. Differentiators

What makes your service stand out from the crowd? The differentiators (aka Why Choose Us?) section is your chance to be direct about how you’re different.

Whether it’s your approach, your values, or the results you deliver, make sure your content highlights what sets you apart. This section is critical for convincing potential clients that your service is the right choice for them.

7. Final Call to Action

End your homepage with a strong call to action (CTA) that invites visitors to take the next step. Whether it’s to learn more, view your services, or get in touch, make your CTA clear and compelling.

Use actionable language and a button or link that guides the visitor to the next step.

Creating homepage content that resonates

An effective homepage is more than a collection of sections; it’s a cohesive narrative that guides visitors towards becoming clients.

Each part of your homepage should tell a piece of your brand story, from welcoming visitors to guiding them through your services and unique selling points. By crafting content that connects and converts, your homepage becomes a powerful tool in your marketing arsenal.
