Summer 2025 Trend Report - Design Trends

While the internet’s busy going full robot 🤖 (hello ChatGPT, Brand Bots, and auto-generated everything)… design is heading in the opposite direction. This summer, it’s all about bringing the human touch back.

We’re seeing more texture, more chaos (the fun kind), and a lot more personality. It’s real-not-perfect, fun-not-filtered, and overflowing with creativity.

Here’s what’s trending on Instagram and beyond this summer 👇

1. Extra Chunky Type

Big fonts are having a big moment. The chunkier, the better. These oversized, soft-edged typefaces instantly grab attention and bring serious personality to any design.

They’re playful, bold, and totally unapologetic. Perfect for headlines that want to stand out and feel warm.

2. Tactile Touch

📎 Paper, tape & a touch of analog

Designers are adding handmade elements like rough-edged fonts, paper cutouts, and scotch tape overlays. These tactile touches bring warmth and coziness to digital designs.

It’s the scrapbook energy we didn’t know we needed—but we’re obsessed.

3. Playful Patterns

🎲 Grids, shapes, and controlled chaos

Bento-style layouts and imperfect shapes are making a splash. Think: organized designs, but with a playful twist. Wobbly grids, chunky shapes, and asymmetry are key.

Perfect for adding energy without losing structure.

4. Scrapbook-Inspired

✂️ Collages, ripped edges, and doodles

From cut-out photos to sketched lines and ripped-paper effects, the handmade scrapbook look is everywhere. It’s nostalgic, approachable, and super engaging.

5. Mix & Match Fonts

🔠 Mixing styles mid-word

We’ve seen designers pair fonts across different words for a while—but now it’s about mixing fonts inside the same word.

💬 One word, two fonts? Yes please.

The result? Bold, unexpected, and super expressive typography that demands attention.
